President El-Sisi Follows-up on Ministry of Awqaf’s Efforts

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Minister of Awqaf Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency said that the meeting followed-up on the efforts made by the Ministry of Awqaf to promote community advocacy and training programs provided for imams.

President El-Sisi directed that the training programs provided for imams be developed, considering their important role in disseminating religious discourse for it helps understand life developments according to the true teachings of Islam and Sharia.

Dr. Mokhtar Gomaa presented the Ministry’s plan for its future training programs for imams and the high-level advanced qualification courses that will be provided to the most distinguished imams. He also presented the efforts made to develop the International Awkaf Academy which provides training programs for imams and preachers. In this regard, the most important courses offered by the Academy to imams and preachers from Egypt and abroad have been mentioned.


The Minister also presented the development of advocacy work and efforts to promote community advocacy. These efforts are embodied in the fact that mosques have restored their vital role in providing moderate religious teachings. There are also further services provided in this regard such as educational programs for children, awareness programs for youth and women, and Islamic cultural centers, among others.

The meeting also reviewed the efforts of the ministry in the field of authorship, translation and publishing, pointing out to some of the recent releases of the annual conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
