As stated by the Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, the meeting addressed the current situation of the national project of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).

The President hence issued directives for the immediate start of “Digital Egypt” initiative that will directly contribute to the State’s efforts for digital transformation, enhance the human digital skills and talents that will eventually support the government’s performance, and provide the latest digital services to citizens across the State.

The President also noted that efforts to use artificial intelligence technology should be enforced within the State’s projects of urban planning, agriculture, health and education. The President also emphasized the importance of upgrading post offices nationwide and automating the litigation system through “Digital Egypt Justice” strategy.

The Spokesman also clarified that the Minister of Communications presented the latest developments of building the platform for urban community models, which are aimed at governing the construction system in Egypt in a clear, planned, organized, and legally abiding context that limits building violations and land encroachments.

The Minister also showcased the latest updates with regard to building artificial intelligence projects to keep pace with the international development efforts in the field of artificial intelligence technologies, while reaching exemplary usage of these technologies across all sectors by integrating them in the digital system to enhance the performance of government services.

The meeting also tackled the latest local projects in electronic design and manufacturing, which is part of the State’s vision to enhance the capabilities of the companies working in this field in order to reach the global market. Developing human resources, qualifying youth and preparing them for the job market in this particular field, attracting direct foreign investments and promoting e-commerce, were further underpinned.

Finally, due to the recent impact of COVID-19 global pandemic and the strain it has made on the usage of internet in Egypt in the recent period, the meeting touched on the importance of strengthening the information infrastructure, where in parallel Egypt is working towards accelerating digital transformation, creating a digital corridor for data, making Egypt a source of attraction to the largest big data centers and maintaining Egypt’s role regionally and internationally in the field of international communication– while preserving its current position of being the safe corridor for under-water internet cables connections.
