President El-Sisi Meets with PM and Ministers of Supply and Local Development

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Dr. Ali El-Moselhy and Minister of Local Development Mr. Mahmoud Shaarawy.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that during the follow-up meeting, President El-Sisi discussed with the officials concerned the procedures for providing basic commodities to citizens during the holy month of Ramadan in sufficient quantities and at affordable prices across Egypt.

The President directed that the number of outlets selling basic commodities be increased to reach 2100 ones for distributing high-quality basic food commodities of all kinds. The aim is to meet citizens’ needs before Ramadan.

His Excellency also directed that discounts be made on these commodities to lift the burden off the shoulders of the neediest segments of our society.

Mr. El-Moselhy presented the various initiatives launched by the Ministry of Supply. He also showcased the main and subsidiary stores as well as fixed and mobile outlets that provide food commodities to all citizens, especially the most needy segments, through the Holding Company for Food Industries.

In the same vein, the Minister of Supply presented the status of the strategic stocks of basic food commodities for the coming months.

Furthermore, Mr. Shaarawy presented the latest preparations going ahead in centers and cities in the various governorates nationwide to receive the holy month of Ramadan.

Mr. Shaarawy also touched on the coordination efforts made between the Ministry of Supply and the governors with regard to providing food commodities and making outlets and stores for food distribution companies.

The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the bakery system nationwide and the efforts made to convert bakeries to run on natural gas in cooperation with the concerned authorities. The State exerts efforts to rely on clean energy that, in turn, has positive economic, environmental and health impacts.
