Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Defense Minister of India, Rajnath Singh. The meeting was also attended by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, General Mohamed Zaki.
The Spokesman for the Presidency said President El-Sisi asked for his greetings to be conveyed to Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi. President El-Sisi confirmed that Egypt values the historical ties it shares with India, underlining its interest to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in the military and defense fields. He also looked forward to activating the partnership between the two friendly countries, to be commensurate with their capabilities in all fields.
The Defense Minister of India conveyed Prime Minister Modi’s greetings to President El-Sisi, expressing his country’s appreciation for the progress and prosperity in Egyptian-Indian relations. He stressed India’s keenness on strengthening their historical relations, in light of the comprehensive development that Egypt is currently witnessing under the leadership of President El-Sisi as well as Egypt’s pivotal and decisive role in combating and eliminating the threat of terrorism, which cast a shadow on the security and stability of Egypt and on regional security. He also expressed keenness on exchanging expertise and consolidating the military and security aspects of the two countries’ cooperation.
The meeting examined ways to strengthen military and security cooperation between the two countries, particularly in joint manufacturing, as well as the transfer and localization of technology so as to enhance the usability of the two countries’ capabilities and infrastructure. The talks also touched on cooperation in the fields of training, qualification, joint exercises, and exchange of expertise and information.
