President El-Sisi Follows-up on Status of Sports Facilities and Infrastructure Nationwide

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Finance Dr. Mohammed Maait, Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Chief of General Intelligence Major General Abbas Kamel and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Hisham El-Sweify.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting followed-up on the latest concerning the infrastructure and sports facilities nationwide as well as Egypt's organizational capabilities to host world championships.

The President was briefed on efforts to develop and modernize the sports infrastructure and facilities, stadiums, halls, training grounds and accommodation places at the level of the republic. This is in addition to efforts made to raise the efficiency of international airports, transport networks, and the development of roads and axes in Greater Cairo and surrounding neighbourhoods to facilitate the time and transportation between these facilities, thus leveraging Egypt's capabilities to host major world championships in various sports at the highest organizational level.

The meeting also touched on progress made in the Egypt International City for Olympic Games in the New Administrative Capital. The President was briefed on the progress of work in the various components of the city, which is considered a huge sports edifice and the largest in the Middle East according to the highest international standards, especially with its stadiums, halls and covered halls for various individual and team sports, in addition to various service areas, medical and hotel facilities, administrative buildings and public squares.
The proposed organizational and administrative structure of the city as well as management and operation plans, in partnership with international and foreign expertise, were presented. This is to ensure the conduct of operational and service operations at the highest level, in line with the size of the city and its modern equipment.

The President gave directives for Egypt International City for Olympic Games to be integrated with other sports and cultural edifices, such as the International Horse City (Marabat) and the City of Arts and Culture. This is in order to create a comprehensive sports and cultural approach that complements the sports infrastructure in Egypt, including stadiums, gymnasiums and training and sports grounds, as well as related technical and logistical services, along with the development of hotels and infrastructure at the level of the state, which reflects Egypt's ability to host major international tournaments and sports events and contributes to the cultural, civilizational and tourism promotion of Egypt.
