President El-Sisi Receives Special Envoy of the President of Nigeria

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Special Envoy of the President of Nigeria Ambassador Joseph Kishi in the presence of the Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Nigeria to Cairo.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the Nigerian envoy sent to the President a written from the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, which addressed a number of areas of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Nigeria, especially in the economic and trade fields, and counter-terrorism issues. Additionally, efforts to strengthen political consultations between the two countries and resume the convening of the joint committee were also showcased. The message also discussed the exchange of experiences on dealing with the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic and Egypt's role in supporting Nigeria's development efforts through promoting cooperation in infrastructure projects, especially road construction and power generation.

The President’s envoy expressed his honor to meet the President, stressing the long-standing relations binding the two countries and peoples. The envoy also showed his country’s aspiration to benefit from Egypt's experience in many areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly combating terrorism by organizing training courses and transferring technical expertise, in Light of Egypt’s pivotal role as a fundamental pillar of stability and security in the entire continent.

The Spokesman added that President El-Sisi asked that his greetings be conveyed to his brother, the Nigerian President Buhari, stressing the special, historical relations between the two countries and the special status that Nigeria enjoys in Africa and the West Africa region in particular. The President also confirmed Egypt's keenness to strengthen its relations with Nigeria, which is a model for building and solidarity between the major African countries, for the benefit of the African peoples through the optimal use of energies and resources in Africa, in a way that helps step up the joint African action to achieve the African countries’ development aspirations.
