President El-Sisi Speaks with Iraq’s Prime Minister

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammad Shia’ Al-Sudani. They discussed strengthening bilateral relations and the current regional situation.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the call addressed the ongoing developments in the region, particularly in light of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s position in support of the need to maintain Lebanon's security, stability, and territorial integrity, rejecting any violations of its sovereignty and the capabilities of its people, as Egypt continues to warn against the dangers of military escalation policies, due to their severe and unpredictable consequences.

President El-Sisi also emphasized the importance of ongoing international efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, as the path for restoring stability in the region and ending the current state of tension, allowing for the advancement of the peace process and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state to establish sustainable peace, security, and development in the region.

The call also touched on bilateral relations. The President and the Iraqi prime minister affirmed mutual keenness to advance bilateral relations to broader horizons, based on the growing momentum of their cooperation and the fraternal, historical ties that bind the two countries and peoples.
