Introduction

After having gathered together, hearts beating as one, Egyptians decided to restore their state’s identity and confront enemies of their homeland and of life in the great June 30 Revolution. The Egyptian people strode along the loyal patriotic leadership that safeguarded the nation and upheld the interest of citizens above all else.

The political leadership braved all the challenges and crises that had become part of Egyptians’ lives and realities for decades; challenges and crises that even the most optimistic of people expected to take decades to overcome their economic, social and political effects.

Relying on exceptional popular backing, the political leadership began taking decisions that no political leadership had dared to take throughout modern Egyptian history, simultaneously laying the foundations of security and political stability by confronting the enemies both inside and outside Egypt. This signaled the readiness to start implementing an economic reform program that was acknowledged far and wide.

The Egyptian people bore the burden of reviving their great state and reforming the economy, braving the challenges with patience and courage. The state firmly planted its feet on the path toward development; toward building the New Republic that Egyptians had long aspired to. Every international economic institution acknowledged the success of the Egyptian experience, with reports rich with praises and testimonies detailing Egypt’s economic upswing.

The political leadership decided that the fruits of Egypt’s economic reform ought to be tangibly and positively reflected in the lives of its citizens, spurring the emergence of thousands of colossal national projects and unprecedented achievements in Egyptian history. Citizens found themselves witnessing a new achievement or the inauguration of a giant project on a daily basis, which was represented in thousands of projects in the realms of infrastructure, social development and economic construction.

For instance, the “1.5 Million Feddans” and the “New Delta” projects are model examples for an integrated development project of strategic importance that aims to achieve food security for the Egyptian people. The unprecedented boom in the roads and bridges sector, the opening of the new Suez Canal, and the inauguration of its economic zone, the role of which has been strengthened as a lifeline of global maritime navigation are among the achievements made. Furthermore, Sinai Peninsula has been placed on the map of comprehensive development and investment, as part of an ambitious and unprecedented plan for the reconstruction of the Land of Turquoise.

Moreover, the New Administrative Capital and smart cities spanning across various governorates will represent a turning point in the New Republic. The state will further its efforts to implement many new housing projects that are worthy of the Egyptian citizen and to eliminate slums that have posed a threat over the past years.

As the people used to have their army as their mainstay and chief support, the armed forces applied the slogan “a hand to build and another to carry arms” with fidelity and dedication. The specialized technical departments of the Armed Forces have supervised thousands of projects that are carried out by civil Egyptian companies. These projects contribute to rebuilding the Egyptian economy, ensuring the availability of all the elements of quality, and speeding up the pace of achievements. The outcomes of those projects were impressive and made Egyptians proud of their great army.

The Egyptian state is also moving toward its national orientation of building a digital Egypt. It is seeking to enhance and develop the information technology and communications infrastructure and to develop plans and strategies to achieve its goals of having a coherent and digitally integrated government.

We cannot forget to mention, with all pride, the achievements of “Tahya Misr Fund”, which cannot be missed. They embody the true translation of the political leadership’s vision regarding the presence of a supporting tool in the construction of the state, through resilient and vigorous solutions to the challenges it faces, as well as the effective participation in the various initiatives and projects that improve the quality of life for millions of Egyptians.

During this journey, the state’s efforts to build a comprehensive, effective and modern social protection net must be underscored. The “Decent Life” project was launched to develop the Egyptian countryside as an icon for the New Republic, which aims to achieve a significant leap in citizens’ lives. The project aims to improve the developmental, economic and humanitarian aspects and provide better services to Egyptians. The state has also launched a multitude of health initiatives, under the auspices of His Excellency, the President of the Republic. Those were held under the slogan “100 Million Healthy Lives” and emanated from keenness on improving the level of health services delivered to the citizens.

Not only that, but the June 30 state represented a pivotal turning point in the dossiers of citizenship and social peace, in light of a commitment to build a state that upholds and solidifies the values of law, citizenship, sense of belonging, non-discrimination and equality among the various sects of society in rights and duties, regardless of their religions and beliefs, as all are equal. The state also worked on enhancing women’s rights and empowering them in society in various fields to reach the highest positions, and on firmly addressing issues that were deeply-rooted in history for the people of Nubia ‘the Land of Gold’. It fulfilled the demands and promoted the standard of living of the people of Nubia, who are an integral part of the national fabric of the Egyptian people.

In this book, we aim to offer a compilation of the state’s most important and outstanding achievements from June 30, 2014 until June 30, 2021, which cannot be briefly presented in this introduction. No doubt, the messages of optimism and hope in this book spur rigorous work and push toward more seriousness, diligence, dedication and giving, after the features of the New Republic had been crystalized, and after Egypt had dedicated its efforts to bolstering its status as the land for development and investment, an oasis of security and safety and a platform for peace and stability. It is a Republic that is launched with a different vision and thought, consistent with the magnitude of challenges and responsibilities; a Republic that benefits from the experiences of the past and moves with broader prospects toward the future.
