Today, President Abdel Fattah El-sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly as well as the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and the Minister of Trade and Industry.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency said the meeting followed up on the Egyptian agricultural export system.

President El-Sisi stressed the importance of integrating the efforts and plans of the joint work sectors in the states in the field of agricultural production, so as to achieve the maximum production and economic efficiency possible for the state’s resources available in this sector. This aims to boost food security from strategic crops, support the competitiveness of the Egyptian agricultural production locally and internationally, link agricultural production with the relevant industries and provide both direct and indirect job opportunities in numerous specialties.

During the meeting, the status of Egypt's agricultural exports was discussed. The exports include 350 diverse agricultural products that are exported to more than 150 countries, mainly to Arab and European ones. The Egyptian exports have made an unprecedented breakthrough during 2021, reaching about 5.6 tons with a value of about $3 billion. Egypt, hence, has become the world's first exporter of citrus, in addition to other processed and packaged agricultural products.

The Minister of Agriculture also presented the developments of the current wheat harvest season in light of the measures taken by the state to enhance the productivity of the wheat crop by increasing the cultivated areas by about 250 thousand feddans. These efforts are made in integration with the national project for silos, which contributed to enhancing the strategic storage capacity, increasing supply prices, and maximizing the financial and economic return for farmers and peasants.
