President El-Sisi Follows Up on the Strategic Projects of the Ministry of Electricity

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohammed Shaker El-Markabi.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting reviewed strategic projects carried out by the Ministry of Electricity across the country.

Dr. El-Markabi presented the status of power supply to the mega “New Delta” agricultural project over an area of 2.2 million feddans and efforts to connect it to the national electricity grid. President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of paying attention to the infrastructure to accommodate the future increase in electrical loads as a result of growing development rates in the area.

The status of completing the infrastructure to secure electrical feed to the northern coast at the present time and in the future was also presented, in order to support the necessary infrastructure for the electrical connection project with Libya.

The Spokesman added that the minister of electricity reviewed developments pertinent to cooperation with international expertise within the framework of the national strategy to generate green hydrogen energy using renewable energy. The President stressed the importance of proceeding with national plans to enhance the use of renewable energy and maximize its value in order to diversify energy sources for development in Egypt. This includes the national strategy to produce green hydrogen energy and enhance the state’s goals to possess ability in the field of green hydrogen generation and trade, as well as to keep pace with the international development in this field as a promising source for energy.

The meeting reviewed progress made in the electrical feed to the national project for the development of Sinai so as to create integrated urban communities in the peninsula. The meeting also touched on providing electrical feed to modern transportation projects nationwide, mainly the monorail project in the New Administrative Capital and 6 October City. This is in addition to the ministry’s efforts to invest in the field of sea water desalination, within the framework of strengthening the state's plans to make the most of the available water resources.
