President El-Sisi Receives LAF Commander

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) Commander General Joseph Aoun in the presence of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki and the Lebanese Ambassador to Cairo Ali Al-Halabi.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President welcomed Gen. Aoun on his visit to Egypt for talks with the Minister of Defense and Military Production. The President stressed his pride in the depth of the close relationship between Egypt and Lebanon at the official and popular levels as well as Egypt's keenness to maintain Lebanon’s safety, security, stability and national interest.

The President also praised the key role played by the Lebanese national army to maintain stability and balance in Lebanon since the national armies are regarded as the mainstay of cohesion and stability in states.

For his part, Gen. Aoun expressed his honor to meet President El-Sisi, conveying to His Excellency the greetings of the Lebanese President Michel Aoun and stressing Lebanon's keenness to strengthen the strong historical relationship that is based on solidarity and brotherhood between the two brotherly countries.

Gen. Aoun also conveyed his country's appreciation for the Egyptian efforts in supporting Lebanon in all fields, as part of Egypt's pivotal role in maintaining stability in the entire Arab region.

The Spokesman said that the meeting discussed ways to enhance existing cooperation between the two countries and to benefit from the Egyptian experience in many fields.
