President El-Sisi Receives the Czech Republic's Minister of Foreign Affairs

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Jakub Kulhánek, in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry and the Czech Ambassador to Cairo Jan Volek.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President welcomed the Czech Foreign Minister in Cairo, praising the long-standing historical relationship the two friendly countries share over nearly a century.

The President stressed Egypt’s great interest in developing bilateral relationship between Egypt and the Czech Republic in various fields as well as Egypt’s keenness to coordinate positions on issues of common interest at the regional and international arenas.

The President also expressed Egypt's great interest in developing cooperation with the Czech Republic within the framework of the Visegrad Group (V4), which includes Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

The aim is to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and this important regional group since it includes friendly countries sharing similar thoughts and priorities with Egypt, especially in the areas of combating illegal immigration and enhancing capacity building.

For his part, the Czech Foreign Minister affirmed his country's keenness to promote its bilateral relationship with Egypt, which represents an important and basic pillar for stability in the Middle East and the Mediterranean.

Hence, strengthening investment relations between the two countries is of particular importance in light of the positive developments witnessed by the Egyptian economy recently under the leadership of the President. Thus, the current major national projects in Egypt, particularly the Suez Canal Economic Zone, offer huge investment opportunities.

The Spokesman added that the meeting addressed a number of files of common interest, including Egypt's efforts to combat illegal migration and terrorism. These efforts are praised and appreciated by all international parties, including the European Union.

Furthermore, they discussed a number of areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in terms of industry localization and technology transfer.

They also addressed bilateral cooperation at the security, military and tourism levels as well as in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the balanced path adopted by the Egyptian government in dealing with the impact of the pandemic since its outbreak until now.
