President El-Sisi Meets Oman’s Sultan, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in Muscat

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Sultan of Oman, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, in Al Alam Palace, in the Omani capital, Muscat.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the President and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq held a bilateral session of talks. Oman’s Sultan valued Egypt’s prominent role in enhancing the mechanisms of joint Arab action in the face of the current crises and challenges in the region. He noted that the role of Egypt is a model to be emulated in preserving stability and improving the economic and social conditions in the Arab world.

President El-Sisi lauded the level of the ongoing coordination and the common vision shared by the two countries on issues of mutual interest. He also commended the Egyptian-Omani consensus with regard to supporting efforts toward maintaining the security of navigation either in the Arabian Gulf or the Red Sea and combating terrorist and extremist organizations. The President highlighted the two countries’ keenness on enhancing joint Arab action so as to contribute to countering the numerous challenges facing the Arab nation at the current period.

The Spokesman stated that the meeting discussed ways to foster closer cooperation, notably in trade and economic relations and joint investments, particularly in light of the outcomes emanating from the Joint Business Council and the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee, which was held in Muscat in January 2022.

The two sides exchanged views on a multitude of international dossiers of mutual concern, particularly the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its repercussions on the region as well as the way in which the Arab states will deal with the repercussions of this crisis.

President El-Sisi and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq exchanged views regarding the upcoming summit between the Gulf States, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and the US, which is due to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The two leaders also discussed developments in Arab and regional issues of common interest, particularly the Yemeni crisis. They agreed on the importance of enhancing coordination between the two countries to support the unity and sovereignty of Yemen as well as the safety of its national institutions, until a sustainable political settlement is reached, ending the suffering of the Yemeni people and fulfilling their aspirations. They stressed that the security and stability of Yemen constitute utmost importance within the context of the security of the Arab and the Red Sea regions.
