President El-Sisi Meets Representatives of Oman's Business Community and Chairmen of Major Companies

Today in Muscat, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with representatives of the business community and Chairmen of major companies in the Sultanate of Oman. The meeting was also attended by a number of senior Omani officials and representatives of the various relevant government authorities.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the meeting commenced with a documentary on the process of developmental and economic accomplishments in Egypt over the past few years. Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El Saed, offered an overview of the mechanisms and investment opportunities available in Egypt in all sectors.

President El-Sisi welcomed the meeting, which embodied the outstanding brotherly and cooperative spirit between Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman. He confirmed Egypt’s commitment to further advancing economic cooperation and trade with the Omani business community and companies, and to developing joint investments to boost the economic development process in the two countries. This shall take place within the framework of joint action to optimize common interests and leverage the available opportunities.

The President lauded the positive progress in economic and trade relations between the two countries during the past period. The President highlighted the various investment opportunities offered by the mega projects, which are currently being implemented in Egypt, primarily the Suez Canal Area Development project. This project encompasses a number of large logistics and industrial zones, which provide promising opportunities for Omani companies, wishing to benefit from Egypt’s strategic location.

President El-Sisi confirmed that the significant progress, witnessed in Egypt recently in the various developmental sectors, demonstrates the strong will of the state, with its government and public components, to achieve sustainable development. He confirmed that this will have its positive impact on solidifying the Egyptian-Omani bilateral relations by opening the door to boosting the size and scope of the existing Omani investments in the various sectors. President El-Sisi asserted that the outstanding brotherly relations between the two countries is a real umbrella to supporting efforts toward bolstering joint cooperation in the various economic fields, with the presence of the necessary political will.

For their part, the Omani officials and businessmen confirmed that they were honored to meet with President El-Sisi and pleased to organize this meeting. They said the meeting offered a huge opportunity to enhance the brotherly bonds and joint cooperation between the two sides, particularly with the various fields and promising investment opportunities available in Egypt, particularly in the sectors of renewable energy, ports, shipping, transport, tourism, construction, real estate and the automotive industry. This is, in addition to the possibility of benefiting from the free trade agreements that Egypt shares with African and European countries so as to access these markets.

The Omani attendees lauded President El-Sisi’s personal, persistent and periodic follow–up of the procedures adopted to facilitate the flow of Omani investments to Egypt. They also commended the remarkable development and growth in the Egyptian economy, which is supported by the Egyptian government’s efforts and measures to speed up the development process, particularly with the implementation of many mega national projects. Those would present Egypt as an important development partner in the international arena.

The meeting witnessed an open discussion with the representatives and chairmen of the Omani companies, who welcomed strengthening cooperation with Egypt so as to achieve the common interests of both sides. They reviewed their plans to invest and expand their existing projects in Egypt in many fields. They stressed the importance of enhancing communication between representatives of the private sector to push bilateral economic relations toward broader horizons to live up to the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
