President El-Sisi’s Speech During the Inauguration of New Mansoura City

Thursday, 01 December 2022 / 12:39 PM

“In the name of Allah, the Most Benevolent, the Most Merciful”

Ladies and gentlemen,

Distinguished guests,

Our dear people in Dakahlia governorate,

I begin by paying tribute to the great masses of the Egyptian people who show their national genius everyday, stress their great abilities, exercise their will to safeguard their homeland and its capabilities, and always strives to build and achieve peace and development. The Egyptian citizens remain the heroes in our national story throughout our nation’s history. They are the building unit and eternal treasure of this nation. With their will and determination, the homeland has achieved survival. With their mind and help, the miracle of construction has been achieved on Egypt's good land.

Today, we witness together a new achievement that has been accomplished by Egyptians and their sincere and diligent efforts, redrafting Egypt's map to accommodate the Egyptians’ dreams and to befit the sacrifices its people have made for its sake.

Together we celebrate a new city that adorns the good and authentic Delta. All modernization and development requirements for the future have been considered. It was implemented according to an accurate and measured scientific plan and unprecedented implementation rates, in a comprehensive manner to build an integrated society.

The New Mansoura city’s opening is a part of a comprehensive plan the state has been implementing over the past years to build 14 fourth-generation cities nationwide in the Delta, Upper Egypt and the Canal. The truth that you also must know is that building new cities is not a luxury. It is an absolute necessity in light of this sustained population increase. This creates a need for integrated urban extensions to contain this increase and address the negative effects of the previous unavailability of these communities, on top of which are the building on farmland and unplanned expansion of urban mass.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The great people of Egypt,

The world, along with Egypt, is facing successive crises on the economic level, the beginning of which was the effects of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. As soon as the world has had time to recover from it, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict erupted; it has been nearly a year since its eruption. The effects of these crises were reflected on the global economy, which had impacts on Egypt. However, we - by God’s grace and the capabilities of the Egyptians - have faced these crises with confident steps and firm capabilities. We have overcome the effects of these crises on citizens with a package of social protection measures in which the efforts of the state and society have intertwined, forming a unique Egyptian model.

In parallel with these measures, a plan of economic measures is being implemented at the state level, one that is based on localizing the industry, reducing the import bill and attracting direct investments. I am confident and absolutely positive that Egypt, with its capabilities and the potential of the Egyptians, is capable of turning every crisis into opportunity and building the future out of the challenges of the present. You may recall, with honor, the fact that Egypt was the destination of the world during the United Nations Climate Change Conference. It was a global testimony that Egypt is the solution to a highly complex global equation.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Distinguished guests,

Despite the crises and challenges facing the entire world, we, with God's help, are able to overcome all these challenges through cohesion and solidarity among the great Egyptian people and all their institutions.

Egypt is the great homeland that is rooted in history and it is where civilization began. It is the homeland which we promised together to safeguard with our souls and build with our hands so that we would cultivate hope and create a future for it. Together, we shall repeat: Long live Egypt … Long live Egypt … Long live Egypt.
