I welcome the convening of the two-state solution conference in New York as a historic opportunity that must be seized to end decades of conflict and suffering.
The recognition and realization of an independent Palestinian state is not a dream. It is, rather, a commitment to a right for which the Palestinian people have long struggled and which has been supported by all peace-loving peoples of the world. It is the sole way to achieve lasting peace, security, and cooperation among all peoples of the region.
