• How is Coronavirus Transmitted?
COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person via droplets; when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks droplets with the virus fly into the air from their nose or mouth. Another way to catch the new coronavirus is when you touch surfaces that someone who has the virus has coughed or sneezed on and then touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Therefore, it is essential to stay at least one-meter away from the sick person.

• Symptoms of Infection
Fever, fatigue, and dry cough. Some patients may experience pain, aches, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild at the beginning and they increase gradually.

• Basic Protection Measures
o Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
o When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or use the inside of your elbow. Throw the used tissue in the trash can immediately and wash your hands.
o Avoid close contact with those who cough or have fever; maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance.
o If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care forthwith.

• Protection Mechanism
Quarantine is not the optimal protective measure due to daily living activities that require engaging in society and dealing with others. Therefore, the best solution would be to avoid mass gatherings and movements and to maintain social distancing.

• The Most Vulnerable to COVID-19
The elderly and persons with chronic diseases such as hypertension, heart disease and diabetes are at higher risk of contracting the new coronavirus compared to others.

• Advice for the Public
a. When receiving guests at home, avoid physical contact when greeting. You can greet each other by waving, nodding or bowing while maintaining a 1-meter distance.
b. Ask all the people in your house, including the guests, to wash their hands.
c. Regularly clean frequently touched surfaces.
d. If any family member or person around is not feeling well (especially if they test positive for coronavirus), avoid sharing space with sick person.
e. If you have coronavirus symptoms, contact your health care provider by phone before visiting.
f. Take your precautions if the virus outbreaks in your community.
g. If you go out, try to follow all of the instructions as if you are at home.
h. Always be updated with the latest information on coronavirus via reliable sources.

o Masks should neither be reused nor touched from the front. N95 respirator mask protects against the virus only when used properly.
o Spraying the body with alcohol or chlorine does not help in eliminating the virus. It may, otherwise, be harmful to clothes or mucous membranes (such as the eyes and mouth).
o Eating garlic does not prevent infection with the virus.
o Regular washing of the nose with a saline solution does not prevent infection with the virus.
o Pets may spread the virus; thus, hands should be washed with soap and water after handling pets.
o There are no specific drugs to protect from, treat or cure the virus. Undergoing laboratory tests and chest X-rays are the most approved tests for coronavirus.
o Coronavirus can affect all age groups, especially the elderly and people suffering asthma, diabetes, and heart diseases.
o Antibiotics are not effective in virus prevention; they only kill germs.
