Egyptian Revolutionary Command Council

• The Revolutionary Command Council was formed following the success of the 23 July Revolution of 1952.
• Major General Mohamed Naguib assumed the presidency of the Council from 1952 to 1954. In 1953, Republican Decree no. 1 was issued appointing Chief of Staff / Mohamed Abdel Hakim Amer Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and granting him the rank of Major General. Then, Lieutenant Colonel / Gamal Abdel Nasser assumed the presidency of the Council from 1954 to 1956.
• The Revolutionary Command Council ruled Egypt from November 14, 1954 to June 24, 1956.
