Medal of Sports

It was established as per law no. 528/1953 that was later replaced by law no. 12/1972.
It shall be granted to those who provide valuable services to the nation and to the champions who win in international competitions. This award may also be awarded to sport teams, clubs or similar institutions. The Sports Medal is of three classes; each class is dedicated to the grantee according to the service for which it is granted and with regard to the social status of the grantee.

The Medal is a five-pointed star in green enamel, on each one there is the symbol of a burning flame. The corners are connected to each other with a white enamel disc surrounded by a circle of blue enamel, on which the five-overlapping circles representing the Olympic games are placed. In the center of the star, there is a round gold disc on which the word "Sport" in Arabic is written above a red enamel. The star is fixed over another silver gilded one, with light rays emanating from it.

The Medal is hanged with a horizontal clip in the shape of the five overlapping circles representing the Olympic games.

The First Class of the Medal shall be hanged around the neck with a white silk ribbon with two green welts. As for the First and Second Classes of the Medal, they shall be hanged on the left side of the chest with the said ribbon. However, the Second-Class medal is embellished with a Rosette.
