President El-Sisi Follows Up on North and Central Sinai Development Project

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting, today, with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aty, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Mr. Al-Sayed El-Quseir, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Major General Ihab Al-Far.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the implementation process of North and Central Sinai Development Project, especially in terms of land reclamation and agriculture using water drained from Bahr El-Baqar station. His Excellency was briefed on the executive steps regarding providing and transferring water from the drain to the lands that are targeted to be cultivated in central and north Sinai and other relevant details, particularly target land areas, pumping stations, irrigation water pipelines, power feeding stations, and electricity transmission lines.

President El-Sisi stressed the importance of coordination and integration among all government entities, especially irrigation and agriculture sectors, in order to expedite the implementation of this strategic project as it has an important impact on the country’s efforts in comprehensively developing the Sinai Peninsula.
