President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi spoke today with President-Elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil.


The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President-Elect of Brazil expressed his gratitude to President El-Sisi for offering his congratulations on his election. The President-Elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his appreciation for the strong ties between the two countries, commending the tangible progress Egypt has achieved during the past years in terms of economic reform and comprehensive development. He also emphasized his keenness to come to Egypt, at the invitation of President El-Sisi, to participate in COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh. President-Elect Lula da Silva expressed his aspiration to develop bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Brazil in various fields, particularly at economic and trade levels.

President El-Sisi welcomed Mr. Lula da Silva’s current participation in COP27 and his presence in Sharm El Sheikh. He also wished him success in achieving the Brazilians’ aspirations for development and prosperity. His Excellency stressed Egypt’s pride in the distinguished relations it has with Brazil, mainly with its pioneering development experience and the progress it has achieved on the economic level. During the call, President El-Sisi expressed that he is looking forward to working jointly with President-Elect Lula da Silva to develop relations between the two countries in various fields, promote cooperation, precisely at the economic and trade levels, and make best use of the potential of the two countries.

The two leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Brazil in various fields and exchanged views on the most prominent files of common interest. Furthermore, they discussed prospects for coordination and cooperation between the two countries to promote climate action at the international level.
