President El-Sisi Receives Phone Call from Russian President

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin this morning.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that during the call, a variety of areas in bilateral relationship between the two countries was covered, especially on cooperation in the tourism sector. It was agreed to fully restore air travel between the two countries' airports, including Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh, following the successful joint cooperation between the two sides in this respect and based on the security and comfort standards provided by the Egyptian airports for tourists.

President El-Sisi welcomed the resumption of air traffic between the two countries, expressing an aspiration that this decision would represent a significant momentum toward advancing bilateral relations and promoting the movement of individuals and tourist delegations between the two countries.

For his part, the Russian President expressed his country's keenness to strengthen various aspects of their close bilateral relationship with Egypt, praising the extended partnership between the two friendly countries and the tangible achievements made by Egypt in the fields of economic and social development.

He further commended the major national projects carried out by Egypt and its efforts to improve the investment climate and develop infrastructure. The President stressed that Russia counts on Egypt's pivotal role in stabilizing its entire regional environment.

The Spokesman added that the call also discussed the developments of a number of the most important regional issues, chief among them are the details of the situation in Libya as well as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam file.

Furthermore, the areas of bilateral cooperation in investment fields, particularly with regard to the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) and El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), were addressed.

There was consensus on increasing mutual coordination and enhancing bilateral relations at all levels, in a manner that reflects the leverage and importance of the two countries as well as the historical significance of joint cooperation. The aim is to face the challenges affecting the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples, especially in light of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement.
