President El-Sisi Receives Phone Call from President of the Republic of Cyprus

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call this evening from President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the call discussed a number of issues of bilateral relations between Egypt and Cyprus, especially in the field of energy. The two leaders also made consultations and exchanged their views on the developments in a number of regional issues within the framework of the two countries' common interests and alignment of their positions in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

The Cypriot President expressed his keenness to coordinate and exchange views with President El-Sisi on all issues of common interest, praising the robust relations between the two countries, which are developing rapidly in various fields. President Anastasiades also affirmed his country’s aspiration to take more concrete steps aimed at consolidating bilateral relations of cooperation and friendship with Egypt and to continue strengthening the trilateral cooperation mechanism with Greece.

For his part, President El-Sisi praised the continuous development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, which is reflected in both countries’ keenness on ensuring coordination and regular consultations on all issues of common interest, affirming that Egypt will continue to step up cooperation with Cyprus at the bilateral level or through the trilateral cooperation mechanism that brings together Egypt, Cyprus and Greece.
