President El-Sisi Meets with Prime Minister and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Dr. Assem El-Gazzar.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the status of all national projects of the Ministry of Housing, especially the New Administrative Capital and new cities, as well as roads, utilities and housing sectors.

The President directed the government to start the actual relocation to the government district in the New Administrative Capital in December. Hence, a six-month transitional period will start after the end of the current preparation stage for the headquarters and facilities of the government district.

President El-Sisi also followed-up on the development of the “Great Transfiguration Project” in the vicinity of Mount Sinai and Mount Catherine in Sinai. In this regard, the President directed that the project be implemented in a way befitting that sacred spot on the land of Egypt, which embraces the three monotheistic religions.

The meeting also touched on the status of projects in the New Administrative Capital, especially facilities in the government district, various residential areas, and the financial and business district. Coordination efforts made in the squares and axes and work progress in the Green River area were also presented

The Minister of Housing presented work progress in the New Alamein City, which includes projects such as the towers, heritage city, Latin Quarter, entertainment district, roads, and the Alamein International University of Science and Technology. This is in addition to presenting the status of facilities, establishments and services in the New Mansoura City, including universities, schools, housing units and Corniche.

The President also followed-up on ongoing projects to develop Historic Cairo that seek to restore the city’s features of civilization and turn it into a tourist, entertainment and cultural attraction. This includes work to develop Ain el-Sira Park and surrounding areas as well as the Maspero Triangle, in addition to establishing the Ahl Masr Walkway, which is considered one of the important projects for leisure and tourism and will increase the green area on the banks of the Nile Corniche.

Dr. El-Gazzar outlined the Ministry of Housing’s efforts within the Decent Life Initiative nationwide, namely in the sectors of sewage and water treatment plants.

The Spokesman added that the Prime Minister presented the outcome of his recent visit to Dubai, heading a delegation that included a number of ministers and officials, during which they held meetings with Emirati officials and inspected the pavilions of Egypt and the UAE at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

The Prime Minister also presented developing the drainage system in the Delta and treating agricultural wastewater, so as to benefit from the water that is being wasted and drained in the lakes and the Mediterranean Sea. This is within the framework of the state’s strategy to maximize benefit from water resources and increase agricultural land area.
