President El-Sisi Receives Amir of the State of Qatar at Ittihadia Palace

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the Amir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at Al-Ittihadia Palace, where an official reception ceremony was held.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said a bilateral session of talks was followed by an expanded meeting attended by the two countries’ delegations. President El-Sisi welcomed his brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, as a dear guest of Egypt. The President extended his congratulations to HH the Amir of Qatar on the anniversary of his assumption of power in his country. President El-Sisi confirmed that this visit embodies the progress witnessed in the Egyptian-Qatari relations, and solidifies the pathway for fostering closer bilateral relations between the two countries in the coming period across all fields, for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples and in light of the mutual sincere intentions of the two sides.

HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani thanked his brother, President El-Sisi, for the warm reception and hospitality, extending his congratulations to the President on the occasion of the anniversary of the June 30 Revolution. He expressed his country’s appreciation for the leadership and people of Egypt, particularly in light of its pivotal role in serving Arab causes and its efforts to enhance joint Arab action across all levels. This is, in addition to the wise policy Egypt is adopting under the leadership of President El-Sisi at all levels domestically, regionally and internationally.

The Amir of Qatar underscored his country’s keenness on continuing the reciprocal steps, with the aim of promoting and further strengthening the various bilateral cooperation mechanisms between the two countries in the coming period. This shall take place by boosting Qatari investments in Egypt and capitalizing on the broad investment opportunities available. Qatar’s Amir valued the contributions of the Egyptian community to the construction and development process in Qatar in the various areas.

There was agreement to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in energy, agriculture, investment and trade, particularly enhancing the flow of all Qatari investment to Egypt, which serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries.

The Spokesman added that the meeting touched on regional developments. The two leaders agreed on the need for uniting and consolidating the efforts of Arab countries, as well as strengthening coordination between Egypt and Qatar to address various crises in the region’s countries.

Concerning the developments of the Palestinian issue, the Amir of Qatar lauded Egypt’s ongoing efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip. Views were aligned the importance of reviving the peace process to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue; one that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in line with the references of international legitimacy.

The meeting also touched on the negative repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis on the global economy, as well as prospects for joint cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism. Both sides confirmed the importance of intensifying the efforts of the international community to face these phenomena, within the framework of an integrated strategy that includes addressing the intellectual and developmental aspects, in addition to security confrontation.

The two sides also welcomed the upcoming summit that will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and will bring together the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and the United States of America.
