President El-Sisi Meets with the Head of the Dawoodi Bohra Community

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Dr. Mufaddal Saifuddin, the spiritual head of the Dawoodi Bohra Community, accompanied by his sons Prince Jaafar Al-Sadiq, Prince Taha Mofaddal, and Prince Hussein Mofaddal, in the presence of the Director of the General Intelligence Service (GIS) Mr. Abbas Kamel.

The Spokesman stated that President El-Sisi welcomed Dr. Mufaddal Saifuddin in Egypt. His Excellency stressed the close historical ties between Egypt and the Bohra community. President El-Sisi also expressed his profound appreciation for the role played the Sultan of Bohra in restoring and renewing the shrines of Ahl Al-Bayt and a number of historical Egyptian mosques among other holy sites, the last of which were the tombs of Sayeda Nafisa, Sayeda Zeinab, and Sayyidna Al-Hussein. These efforts are complementary to those made by the State to develop archaeological sites in historic Fatimid Cairo.

Moreover, the President also valued the charitable activities sponsored by the Bohra community, in addition to its support for “Tahya Misr” fund.

The President stressed that Egypt believes in the importance of dialogue among all peoples of various sects and ethnicities around the world and that it is open to all religions and sects. This openness is based on the Egyptians ancient history, civilization, and correct understanding of religion.
In this regard, His Excellency presented the Egyptian government’s efforts to promote the principles of citizenship based on equality, peaceful coexistence and freedom of choice and belief.

For his part, Dr. Mufaddal Saifuddin expressed his honor to meet the president and his profound appreciation for the Egyptian stance supporting the freedom to practice religious rituals as well as the peaceful co-existence between all religions and sects, hence ensuring a stable and peaceful environment.

He further praised Egypt’s pivotal role in the region, recently, and development achievements in various fields.

This was embodied in the Egypt-brokered Israel-Gaza ceasefire efforts and Egypt’s construction efforts in the Gaza strip and continuous support for the efforts aimed to reach a political settlement to the Libyan crisis.
