President El-Sisi Meets U.S. President Biden in Jeddah

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with U.S. President Joe Biden, in Jeddah.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the American President welcomed his first meeting with President El-Sisi. President Biden confirmed that the U.S. administration looks forward to reinvigorating the frameworks of joint bilateral cooperation, strengthening the ongoing strategic consultations and coordination between the two countries and enhancing them in the coming period, particularly in light of Egypt’s pivotal role in the Middle East, under the wise leadership of President El-Sisi, which constitutes a fundamental pillar for preserving peace and security and spreading peace in the region.

President El-Sisi welcomed meeting with the American President for the first time. The President underscored Egypt’s commitment to further advancing and boosting the outstanding partnership relations between the two countries. President El-Sisi underlined the importance of this partnership’s role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East region, noting that Egypt looks forward to more coordination and consultations with the U.S. on various issues in the region.

The meeting reviewed aspects of Egyptian-American bilateral cooperation in an array of fields. Those include, in particular, cooperation in efforts to address the repercussions of the global circumstances of the food crisis and the disruption of energy supplies. The talks also focused on a number of regional issues and dossiers. President El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s firm position based on the importance of supporting crisis-affected countries and of strengthening their national institutions, to end the suffering of their peoples and preserve their resources.

The talks also touched on the Palestinian issue and ways to revive the peace process. President El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s unwavering stance toward the Palestinian issue and the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive solution that ensures the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international references. The President stressed Egypt’s commitment to cooperating with the U.S. to explore ways to revive and push forward the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations process. President Biden expressed the American administration's huge appreciation for Egypt’s persistent efforts to establish peace in the region, in addition to its fundamental role in maintaining calm between the Palestinians and Israelis as well as its initiative for the reconstruction of Gaza.

The two Presidents also discussed the latest developments with regard to the Renaissance Dam. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unequivocal position regarding the importance of reaching a legally-binding agreement for the filling process and operation of the dam, in a manner that preserves Egypt’s water security and achieves the common interests of the three countries.
