President El-Sisi Meets British PM in London

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at 10 Downing Street, London.


The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting witnessed closed bilateral discussions followed by a meeting with the delegations of the two countries. The British Prime Minister welcomed the President's visit to London. He stressed UK’s eagerness to develop bilateral relations with Egypt, especially at the level of economic and trade relations. He added that Britain is counting on Egypt's pivotal role in the Middle East and Africa.


Mr. Johnson also praised the President's strategic vision on development, paying off in economic and social domains. He added that mega projects such as the New Administrative Capital, a robust infrastructure and a favorable investment environment stand witness to that. Britain supports rigorous measures undertaken by Egypt to achieve comprehensive development, he added.


The Spokesman stated that the President expressed his appreciation for meeting with the British Premier, praising the remarkable momentum of the bilateral relations between the two countries in all domains. Egypt wishes to tap bilateral relations in the upcoming period, draw on security and political endeavors and exchange views vis-à-vis various common issues.


Further British engagement is sought in Egypt’s development plans coupled by sizable investments and a considerable reboot to the economies of both countries at the backdrop of the vigorous reforms pursued by the Egyptian government.


Countering illegal migration and terrorism was addressed by the two sides along with the situation in Libya. A settlement can be brokered via a UK-Egypt concerted effort bringing along a full-blown resolution, the Spokesman added.
