President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Dr. Assem El Gazzar, and Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Hassan.
As stated by the Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, the meeting looked of the current position of various projects being executed by the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, especially the new cities and the development of Egyptian countryside villages across the State.
In the meeting, His Excellency directed the expansion of stage one of the “Haya Karima” (Decent Life) initiative to include the development of 1500 villages within 50 major cities across various governorates, currently inhabited by 18 million citizens with a total cost amounting to 500 billion EGP. In addition, to 400 villages that were previously developed under the umbrella of “Haya Karima”, which comes within the State’s plan to develop all Egyptian villages in 3 years, and on various stages in order to ameliorate the living conditions of citizens, to develop infrastructure and basic services- especially electricity, water supply and sewage- lining water canals, develop healthcare units and develop educational facilties.
As for the housing sector, the President directed the construction of 350’000 new housing units within the project “Sakan Kol El-Masreyeen” (House for All Egyptians) across the cities and governorates of the State; as it is within the country’s strategy to provide proper housing for all citizens.
His Excellency was briefed on the executive plan of the project “Al-Tajally Al-A’azam Fawk Ard Al-Salam” (The Greater Transfiguration on The Land of Peace) in the holy zone in Sinai, around Moussa and Saint Catherine’s mountains. Where His Excellency pointed on creating and delivering harmonious engineering designs that blend with the nature character of the area. The project shall provide all the needed services, utilities, and infrastructure with the highest standards for all visitors, to add a touristic edge to this highly valuable and holy religious area.
The meeting also saw a showcase of the executive steps taken regarding the development and construction of various new cities across the nation, especially: the New Administrative Capital, New Mansoura, New Aswan and Al-Gallala, where His Excellency pointed that these cities should become fully integrated and developed that include commercial activities, provide employment opportunities and economic return to the citizens; in addition, developing a special financial program that eases the ownership of housing units to all citizens in these new cities.
During the meeting, Dr. Assem El-Gazzar presented the latest updates regarding the development of Cairo’s neighborhoods, such as: Ein El-Seera district around the Civilization Museum area, Magra Al-Oyoon wall, Maspero’s Triangle- that includes the Nile housing and administrative towers- and the “Mamsha Ahl Masr” project (Egyptian’s People Walk) that overlooks the Nile River for across 10 KM and will significantly contribute in changing Cairo’s current look and restore it to its civilized luster.
This project will also contribute in increasing green spaces, touristic attraction spots, renovate Khediev’s Cairo-with all its heritage and archaeological areas- next to the renovation operations currently being done in Tahrir Square.
At the end of the meeting, the President directed that Cairo’s renovation should target the vision of improving the current built environment, upgrade the quality of housing services and living standards of citizens, in addition to provide touristic attraction areas in a manner that would root the modern impression of the Egyptian State and its new reality.
