President El-Sisi Receives the Queen of the Kingdom of Denmark

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the Queen of the Kingdom of Denmark, Her Majesty Queen Mary. The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty; Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lars Løkke Rasmussen; and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Cairo, Ambassador Lars Bø Møller.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi welcomed Her Majesty the Queen, expressing his appreciation for Her Majesty’s participation in the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which reflects the profound historical and distinguished relations between Egypt and Denmark.

Her Majesty the Queen conveyed the greetings of the King of Denmark to the President, and expressed her deep pride in her visit to Egypt and her participation in this prominent cultural event. Her Majesty praised the greatness of the Egyptian civilization and the museum’s unique contribution to enriching human heritage.

The meeting also focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in light of the President’s state visit to Denmark in December 2024, which witnessed the official declaration of elevating the level of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.

President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of building upon the outcomes of that visit to expand the scope of joint cooperation, particularly in the trade and investment fields, in a way that fulfills the aspirations of the two peoples for development and prosperity.

The meeting also touched on a number of regional issues of mutual interest. H.M. the Queen expressed her appreciation for Egypt’s leading role in reaching an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip. H.M. Queen Mary lauded Egypt's initiative to convene a conference for the reconstruction of the Strip this November.

In Denmark's capacity as the current President of the Council of the European Union, H.M. Queen Mary emphasized that her country values the advanced level reached in relations between Egypt and the European Union. She also highlighted the vital role played by Danish companies in Egypt, looking forward to boosting Danish investments in the Egyptian market.

The meeting also tackled developments in Sudan. The two sides reiterated the imperative to strengthen efforts to stop the war, to reduce the crimes committed in its context, and to provide humanitarian aid, as a prelude to reaching a comprehensive political settlement that ensures the stability of Sudan.
