This evening, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the phone call focused on the latest developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to achieve calm and the steps it is undertaking to deliver relief aid and evacuate foreign nationals and wounded Palestinians. President El-Sisi and President Putin agreed to intensify international efforts toward an immediate ceasefire, and toward allowing the urgent access to humanitarian aid and taking the necessary measures to protect civilians and stop the bloodshed. This shall pave the way for the political track, with the aim of resolving the conflict, based on the two-state solution.
The call also tackled ways to foster closer bilateral relations in a range of joint cooperation areas.
