President El-Sisi Meets President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the official reception ceremony included an inspection of the guard of honor and the playing of the national anthems of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Sudan, followed by a commemorative photograph. An expanded meeting was then held and was attended by delegations from both countries, during which ways to enhance bilateral relations were discussed in a manner that reflects the aspirations of the two peoples to achieve integration and mutual development. The ceremony concluded with a luncheon held in honor of Egypt’s distinguished guest.
Talks addressed the latest developments on the ground in Sudan. President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full support for the Sudanese people in their efforts to overcome the current critical phase. The meeting also reviewed both regional and international efforts to restore peace and stability.
The President underscored Egypt’s unwavering position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, security, and stability and affirmed Egypt’s readiness to exert all possible efforts in this regard.
The two sides agreed on the importance of intensifying efforts to provide support and assistance to the Sudanese people in light of the severe humanitarian conditions they are facing as a result of the ongoing conflict, while stressing the necessity of halting crimes committed against the brotherly Sudanese people and holding those responsible accountable. For his part, the President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s continued support for Sudan and its efforts to help bring the current crisis to an end, noting that this reflects the deep fraternal relations between the two countries.
The meeting also discussed regional developments in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa. Both sides affirmed the convergence of their views regarding national security priorities. They stressed the importance of continuing coordination and joint action to safeguard water security, rejecting unilateral measures in the Blue Nile Basin, and emphasizing the need to respect the rules of international law in a manner that serves the common interests of all Nile Basin countries.
