Development of Egyptian Villages

The national project for the development of Egyptian villages is part of the “Decent Life” initiative, which was launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on January 2, 2019, to improve the lives of the neediest segments of society nationwide.

The project aims to urgently intervene to improve the quality of life of citizens in the Egyptian villages by upgrading 4584 villages, representing 58% of the republic’s total population, at a cost of 515 billion pounds.

The project seeks to provide integrated packages that include the following:

  • Facilities and infrastructure services (roads and transport- water and sanitations- electricity and public lighting – natural gas – development of local units – youth and sports – health and educational services)

 

  • Economic development and generating jobs through the establishment of industry complexes, vocational training- income-generating projects, villagers building their own houses, in addition to recycling of waste, and agriculture and fisheries development.

 

  • Social interventions and providing decent houses (eradication of illiteracy- education- decent housing- awareness, cultural and sports campaigns- social and physiological habilitation– repaying debts -bridal preparation)

 

The implementation of the project to develop the neediest areas nationwide starts as an urgent phase. 50 centers were counted in 20 governorates, encompassing 1391 villages, with a total investment of 150 billion pounds, targeting 18 million beneficiaries.
