The 48th Anniversary of 6th of October War Victory

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

The Great People of Egypt,

Today, we celebrate together the 48th anniversary of the glorious October War victory, the day of pride and dignity. It is the day of victory that will always be celebrated in the history of our nation as the day of victories and glories, which were forged by the blood of the men of the Armed Forces, in a military epic that captivated the world and was engraved in letters that illuminated all of humanity. It reflected the strength and resolve of the Egyptians to restore their rights and hold on to the sovereignty of their homeland, territory and pride.

The October War will always remain a turning point in our modern history and a symbol of Egypt’s grandeur, pride and solidity. Greetings, appreciation and honor go to all men, leaders and icons of the Egyptian military on the victory day for their bravery and sacrifices. We also salute the martyrs who sacrificed their pure souls for the sake of their homeland.

I also extend my greetings to the Egyptian people, whose endurance, awareness and support for their Armed Forces at the most critical and hardest times were a crucial element that created this glorious victory. Their solidarity and awareness will always remain the real fortress that contributed to preserving the Egyptian State and to maintaining the prosperity of their ancient civilization since the dawn of history.

We also salute the “Hero of War and Peace”, late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, the leader of the great victory and the decision-maker for crossing the canal.

Brothers and Sisters,

Egypt that fought and restored its land is the same Egypt that constantly seeks to achieve peace. Egypt has never pursued wars or conflicts as a means to fulfil illegitimate ambitions or to usurp others’ possessions and resources. Instead, Egypt seeks to extend a hand of cooperation, a firm approach to achieving welfare, construction and development.

The Great People of Egypt,

Days and years go by, thoughts change, and the forms of conflicts change. The traditional wars that we fought in the past have turned into unconventional wars that aim to devastate homelands from within.

Egypt’s main issue, now, is that of awareness, an issue that has become a joint responsibility between all state institutions and civil society organizations to preserve our homeland and our people’s resources, which we were entrusted with.

I recall on this cherished occasion the importance and value of the inspiring lessons that the October victory has taught us for it was not merely a military victory but a unique example of cohesion, popular awareness among all the spectra of the Egyptian society. It was a fully-fledged epic for a nation that mobilized full force to change the bitter reality into victory and draw its success from the scientific approach for preparation and planning, the outcome of past experiences, the result of diligence and hard work, day and night, to reach the goal and achieve victory.

Our celebration of the glorious October victory represents a treasured occasion that instigates our sense of national pride and reminds us of the magnitude of difficulties and challenges that we have been able to overcome in order to reach the present. A present in which Egypt writes a great success story that started years ago, re-demonstrating the Egyptian will that conquers difficulties.

Today, we see that Egypt, according to the figures and facts, has found its true path and hence has taken steady steps towards development and progress and changed its reality so as to befit its history, civilization and the greatness of its people. Together we proceed, sturdily and determinedly, to build and develop our country, in spite of the growing domestic and external challenges, especially in our tense and complicated regional surrounding, and the unprecedented international crises that Egypt was not immune from, particularly the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Egyptian people proved once again that they demonstrated profound awareness and that their sense of belonging and loyalty to their country is unconditional. They also proved that Egypt is a nation that rises with the resolve and hands of its sons and daughters and that hard work, diligence and devotion are the fundamental values and pillars for success to overcome challenges on the path of building the modern state.

Over the past seven years, we have embarked on a rough road in order to build our modern state into our New Republic. We started to realize a comprehensive and deep process to formulate the future that we seek for our dear country and for the present and future generations, in accordance with integrated and harmonized collective work among all the state bodies and based on the goals of “Egypt’s Vision 2030”.

Efforts for construction and development have extended to reach all aspects of life in Egypt, with no exception, to fulfil a particular goal: maximizing the state’s capacity in all fields in order to change reality and construct the Egyptian character, in pursuit of a better present and future for Egypt and Egyptians. I refer, here, to the unprecedented national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside “Decent Life” that seeks to raise the standard of living of more than half of the Egyptian population, living in more than 4,000 villages, at an estimated cost of 700 billion Egyptian pounds.

The Great People of Egypt,

The sacrifices and heroism that the great October generation has offered will remain etched in our conscience and stand witness to the robustness of this nation. They will remain a beacon and an inspiring example of hard work and diligence to uphold the people, protect the nation’s soil and safeguard its dignity.

I wish you all happy celebrations and I wish Egypt more peace, progress and prosperity.

Long Live Egypt. Long Live Egypt. Long Live Egypt.

Peace, Mercy and Blessings of Allah be upon you.”
