Restoration and Development of Al-Sayeda Nafissa Mosque

The restoration and development of Al-Sayeda Nafissa Mosque, one of the most important Islamic shrines in Egypt, are part of the Egyptian state’s plan to build places of worship in general and its interest in historic Cairo and Al-Bayt mosques in particular. The areas being developed include Magra Al-Oyoun aqueduct, Al-Fustat, Al-Sayeda Aisha, Al-Sayeda Nafissa, Old Cairo, Sayedna Al-Hussein, Al-Sayeda Zeinab, and Al-Ashraf Street.

The development work included the development of the mosque’s Maqsurah (cabin), the shrine and the surrounding area, as well as the square and all the streets surrounding and leading to the mosque. In addition, green areas have been increased and all the buildings surrounding the mosque have been restored.
