This evening, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi, attended the historic inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). The ceremony was also attended by around eighty delegations representing various world countries, as well as a broad participation from representatives of regional and international organizations, and major international companies.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President was keen on welcoming the heads of the delegations, including their Majesties, Excellencies, Highnesses, and Honors, participating in the ceremony.
The ceremony began with an artistic performance titled "The World Plays One Melody”. This was followed by a "Laser and Drones" show illustrating the "Orion Belt theory" and the relationship between the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Pyramids.
Then an artistic segment titled "A Journey of Peace in the Land of Peace”, was presented including an artistic scene about the creativity of Egyptians in construction, starting from the building of the Step Pyramid of Djoser up to modern-era construction. Attendees then listened to a Coptic hymn and Sufi chanting, followed by another drone show displaying the phrase "Civilizations Flourish in Time of Peace."
President El-Sisi delivered a speech on the occasion of the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The President then proceeded to the location of the model of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and placed the final piece in the name of Egypt to complete the model, marking the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
This coincided with the announcement that all Kings, Presidents, and Princes of sisterly and friendly countries had received a miniature model of the Museum, along with a piece bearing the name of their country. This was followed by a narration of the story of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and then a musical performance titled "King Ramses II” about the submerged antiquities of Alexandria, the Grand Staircase show, a display of the Grand Egyptian Museum's collections, and the Nile show, which highlighted the profound interconnectedness between the Nile and the people.
The celebration concluded with shows featuring the Khufu Boat "Solar Boat" and King "Tutankhamun," which highlighted the role of the young boy, Hussein Abdel Rassoul, in the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. The final act was a closing show using lighting, fireworks, and laser displays, and a tour of the Grand Staircase and the Tutankhamun Hall.
