Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Ghana’s President John Mahama on the sidelines of President El-Sisi's participation in the seventh session of thr Mid-Year Coordination Summit Meeting of the African Union Summit, held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the meeting reviewed ways to strengthen relations between the two brotherly countries, in a manner that serves their interests across various sectors of common interest, and meets the aspirations of their peoples for development and prosperity, particularly in light of the historical ties that bind them.
The meeting also touched on means of promoting collective action at the African continental level. This is in light of Ghana's hosting of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) headquarters and Egypt's presidency of AfCFTA Council of Ministers. The two sides explored opportunities to boost intra-African trade and overcome challenges facing continental integration.
The meeting also tackled regional affairs. Both sides discussed the situation in the African Sahel, Somalia, and Sudan, as well as efforts to achieve continental stability to support development opportunities.
