Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in the 7th mid-year Coordination Meeting of the African Union in the capital of Equatorial Guinea.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the meeting discussed a multitude of vital African dossiers. Those included primarily efforts toward continental integration and amalgamation, strategies to liberalize intra-African trade, and ways to address regional and international challenges impeding the continent’s development. Additionally, the meeting explored avenues to enhance peace and security across Africa.
President El-Sisi delivered the speech of the Steering Committee for Heads of State and Government of the African Union Development Agency – NEPAD, which is currently chaired by the President. The speech focused on the Committee’s pivotal role under Egypt’s chairmanship in advancing development across the African continent. Key areas included bridging the development financing gap; implementing Africa’s Development Agenda 2063; enhancing investment in human capital, particularly in health and education; and addressing climate change. The speech also emphasized the vast opportunities available for Africa to achieve sustainable development and prosperity, despite the formidable regional and global challenges.
