Today in the French city of Évian, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the meeting focused on bilateral relations between Egypt and Brazil. President El-Sisi expressed profound pride in the historical ties binding the two countries, reaffirming Egypt's commitment to reinforcing these relations and enhancing all existing channels of mutual consultation. The President placed particular value on the ongoing collaborative efforts to implement the provisions of the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the two countries in November 2024, highlighting the substantial growth in bilateral trade observed in recent years.
Brazil’s President da Silva, for his part, expressed his gratification at meeting once again with President El-Sisi, lauding the profound momentum characterizing bilateral relations, particularly noting that Egypt stands as Brazil's foremost trading partner in the African continent. The Brazilian President commended the expanding frameworks of cooperation uniting the two countries following Egypt's accession to the BRICS bloc, alongside the Strategic Partnership Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement between Egypt and the Mercosur bloc. President da Silva stressed the imperative of sustaining efforts to expand the volume of bilateral trade, despite the fact that it has recently surpassed 5.5 billion dollars.
President El-Sisi and Brazil’s President da Silva also discussed joint cooperation within international fora. The Brazilian President conveyed his deep gratitude for the concerted efforts of Egypt and President El-Sisi personally to restore stability to the Middle East. He reiterated his country's endorsement of the Egyptian approaches that prioritize achieving enduring, comprehensive and peaceful resolutions to crises across the Middle East and the African continent. At the conclusion of the meeting, the two Presidents agreed to sustain coordination and consultation across all levels between the two countries in the coming period.
