President El-Sisi Meets President of Tanzania on Sidelines of G20 Summit

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Hassan, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy, stated that the meeting focused on ways to deepen the historic and strong brotherly relations between the two countries. This is in light of the shared keenness to enhance all forms of cooperation, given the significant momentum relations gained in recent years, especially in the economic and trade sectors, as well as cooperation in agriculture, livestock, and between the private sectors in both countries.

The meeting also touched on Egypt’s efforts to complete the construction of the Julius Nyerere Dam, which is located on an inland river in Tanzania. The Tanzanian president commended Egypt’s support for the project, underscoring its significance as a key developmental initiative for her country.

President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to providing full support for the developmental efforts of fraternal countries, particularly those in the Nile Basin.

The meeting further addressed ways to strengthen cooperation among the Nile Basin countries to enhance coordination and consensus among them, with a focus on achieving the interests of their peoples. This would be done through continuous coordination and collective action aimed at realizing shared developmental aspirations, while ensuring benefits for all parties without harming any nation.
