Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Madrid, on the second day of the President’s official visit to the Kingdom of Spain.
President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Sánchez held an expanded session of talks attended by the two countries’ delegations. The meeting focused on bilateral relations as well as regional developments. The Spanish Prime Minister emphasized Spain’s full agreement with Egypt’s stance, categorically rejecting the displacement of the Palestinians. Prime Minister Sánchez reiterated that Spain decisively and unequivocally rejects the displacement of the Palestinians. He confirmed that Madrid supports the outcomes that will emanate from the upcoming Arab summit, due in Egypt, on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and Egypt’s plan in this regard, in a way that secures the continued presence of the Palestinians on their land. He affirmed the imperative to implement the two-state solution.
Following the talks, President El-Sisi and Spain’s Prime Minister signed a declaration, promoting relations between Egypt and Spain to the level of strategic partnership. They also witnessed the signing ceremony of a multitude of Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs, between the two countries in an array of fields.
