President El-Sisi Pays Short Visits to the UAE and Qatar

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi paid a fraternal visit, lasting several hours, to both the United Arab Emirates and the State of Qatar.

The visits come within the framework of Egypt’s unwavering solidarity with and full support for the sisterly Gulf Cooperation Council states in light of the current regional circumstances. They also reaffirm Egypt’s categorical condemnation and rejection of the heinous and unjustified assaults on the territories of the sisterly states, as well as any attempts to undermine their security and resources.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said President El-Sisi began his visit by traveling to the United Arab Emirates, where UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, warmly received him upon arrival, together with Egypt’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ambassador Essam Ashour.
A closed bilateral meeting was held between President El-Sisi and, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.

President El-Sisi began the meeting by reiterating Egypt’s unshakable support for the United Arab Emirates in the current circumstances, as well as Egypt’s full backing of the measures undertaken by the Emirati leadership to safeguard the UAE’s security and stability, and the interests of its people.

The President reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection and condemnation of the Iranian assaults against the UAE and other sisterly Arab states. President El-Sisi emphasized that the national security of the Arab Gulf states constitutes an integral extension of Egypt’s own national security, emphasizing Egypt’s readiness to provide all necessary forms of support to preserve the security and stability of the UAE and the Arab Gulf states.

President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to halt the escalation, noting in this regard that Egypt had conveyed to the Iranian side a clear message that the Gulf states are not party to the ongoing conflict, and that the Iranian assaults against them are unacceptable and unjustifiable and must cease immediately.

The President further affirmed that Egypt continues its efforts to urge all parties to return immediately to the negotiating track, which alone can lead to diplomatic solutions that safeguard the stability and sovereignty of states and the resources of their peoples, in accordance with the established principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed President El-Sisi’s visit, asserting that it reflects the close fraternal relations and bonds uniting the two countries and their brotherly peoples. The UAE President expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast position in support of the UAE and for its role in preserving regional peace and stability. He underscored his country’s keenness on continuing coordination and consultations with Egypt in the interest of strengthening peace and security in the region.

During the visit, the two Presidents discussed the current state of the outstanding relations between the two countries and ways to further advance them across various fields in a manner that serves the interests of the two countries and their peoples.

President El-Sisi and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also reviewed developments pertinent to regional issues of mutual concern, reaffirming the need to advance close consultation between the two countries in pursuit of security and stability in the region. The two leaders also exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
Following the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed accompanied President El-Sisi to bid him farewell at the airport.

President El-Sisi then headed to the State of Qatar. Upon the President’s arrival at Hamad International Airport, he was received by Amir of the State of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as Egypt’s Ambassador to Qatar, Ambassador Walid El-Fekki, and members of the Egyptian embassy in Doha.

The two leaders held an expanded meeting attended by the delegations of both countries. President El-Sisi began the meeting by reaffirming Egypt’s full support for Qatar and its solidarity with all Gulf states in confronting the condemned and unjust attacks on their territories. The President emphasized Egypt's total backing for the measures Qatar takes to defend its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The President further stressed Egypt’s readiness to provide all forms of support to preserve the security and stability of Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
President El-Sisi also reviewed Egypt’s efforts and communications aimed at urging all parties to de-escalate and prioritize political and diplomatic solutions.
These efforts included contacts with the Iranian side, during which Egypt expressed unequivocal condemnation of the unjustified Iranian attacks on sisterly countries and called for their immediate cessation. The two leaders also exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

For his part, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed his deep appreciation for the President’s visit and his keenness to maintain communication since the beginning of the current crisis.

The Amir of Qatar also praised Egypt’s consistent stance in supporting the stability and sovereignty of Qatar and all Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
He noted the strong historical ties between the two countries at both the popular and official levels.

His Highness affirmed that Qatar values coordination and consultation with Egypt aimed at restoring regional stability and reaching peaceful solutions to all regional crises.
He further reviewed Qatar’s efforts to legitimately defend its land and people.

In this context, President El-Sisi reiterated that Egypt considers the security of the Arab Gulf states an integral part of Egypt’s national security. The President asserted that the shared history and common destiny between Egypt and the Gulf states necessitate strengthening cooperation in all its forms and working jointly to confront current challenges and to activate the concept of collective Arab national security.

The two leaders also discussed a number of regional issues of mutual interest and agreed to intensify Egyptian-Qatari consultations in the coming period on ways to de-escalate and restore regional stability.

At the conclusion of the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani saw the President off at Doha International Airport.

The President returned safely to the homeland this evening following the completion of the two visits.
