Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly. The prime minister conveyed to the President the greetings of US President Donald Trump, whom he had met in New York at the meeting that President Trump called for and was attended by the leaders of a number of Arab and Islamic countries to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and post-war plans. Dr. Madbouly participated in the meeting on behalf of President El-Sisi.
The prime minister added that President Trump expressed his appreciation for the good relationship he shares with President El-Sisi and the respect he has for him and his efforts in the region.
The minister of defense and military production, the minister of interior, and a number of senior officials from the relevant state agencies joined the meeting.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the prime minister reviewed during the meeting the outcomes of his participation, on behalf of the President, in the opening of the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
He also reviewed his participation in the two-state solution conference, which was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the General Assembly, in addition to attending the meeting that President Trump called for to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and post-war plans.
The prime minister clarified that he stressed during the functions and meetings the importance of adhering to the peace option, and Egypt's commitment to the Camp David Accords as a strategic option and a model to be emulated if the political will is available. The prime minister also explained that the recognition of the Palestinian state by a number of major countries during the two-state solution conference constituted a historic event and contributed to creating international momentum in support of the cause. There was wide consensus to reject Israeli practices, including the rejection of the genocide committed against the Palestinian people, and attempts to impose a fait accompli on the ground. The prime minister also affirmed that Egypt's speech at the conference emphasized the pillars of Egypt's position in support of the Palestinian cause, and that a settlement can only be achieved by establishing a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This is in addition to Egypt’s categorical rejection of attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands, and its keenness to continue coordinating with the international community to advance efforts to achieve the two-state solution.
With regard to the meeting called for by US President Trump on Gaza, Dr. Madbouly explained that the US president affirmed his rejection of the continuation of the war and the determination of the United States to end it, noting that it has developed a clear roadmap for its immediate cessation. President Trump also emphasized the possibility of implementing a plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip without displacing its people.
Dr. Madbouly also reviewed the outcomes of his discussions in New York with a number of world leaders and senior officials, which addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations across various fields.
President El-Sisi affirmed that peace is Egypt's strategic choice to ensure a safe and stable future for the peoples of the region, stressing that history has proven that conflicts serve no party, in light of the conflicts the region is suffering from, which have exhausted its peoples and placed a great responsibility on its countries, mainly Egypt, to protect and consolidate peace.
In this context, the President welcomed President Trump's initiative to stop the war in Gaza and looked forward to its implementation as soon as possible. The President emphasized the importance of intensifying coordination with the international community to increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and reiterated Egypt's position that rejects the displacement of Palestinians or the annexation of parts of the West Bank to the Israeli sovereignty.
