Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of South Korea, Park Beom-Kye. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, and the South Korean Ambassador to Cairo.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the Korean envoy delivered a letter to President El-Sisi from President of South Korea Lee Jae-Myung, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In the letter, the Korean President expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance toward Korea in its efforts to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula and conveyed his desire to meet with President El-Sisi at the earliest opportunity. Special envoy Park also conveyed the Korean President’s greetings to President El-Sisi.
President El-Sisi welcomed the Korean official and asked him to convey his congratulations to President Lee on his election as President in June 2025. The President looked forward to welcoming Korean President Lee in Cairo soon to strengthen bilateral cooperation and forge closer relations across various fields.
President El-Sisi lauded the tangible progress in Egyptian-Korean relations at all levels, particularly in recent years, which, he said, has cemented South Korea's position as an active economic partner to Egypt. The President also commended South Korea's developmental experience over recent decades, which has resulted in the country’s current progress, and stressed the importance of Korean investments in the Egyptian market. President El-Sisi affirmed the state’s commitment to further deepening the economic partnership with South Korea and expanding its prospects, emphasizing the need to build on the successes achieved in existing areas of cooperation. This includes encouraging more Korean companies to explore promising investment opportunities in Egypt, capitalizing on the country's stability, growing competitive advantages, as well as its free trade agreements with Arab and African countries.
The meeting also tackled developments in the region. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s steadfast position regarding the war in the Gaza Strip. The President called on countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to move swiftly toward taking this step, given the significant impact such recognition would have on supporting the two-state solution, the only viable path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
