This afternoon, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the inauguration of the new Headquarters of Senghor University in New Borg El-Arab City. The ceremony was attended by the President of the French Republic, President Emmanuel Macron; Prime Minister of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Nestor Ntahontuye; Secretary General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo; Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad of the Republic of Senegal, Mr. Cheikh Niang; and Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation at the African Union Commission, Mr. Gaspard Banyankimbona.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said that, prior to the commencement of the inaugural proceedings, the President took a commemorative photograph with a group of Senghor University students, joined by the heads of delegations participating in the inauguration of the University's new Headquarters.
The ceremony's program began with a presentation on Senghor University delivered by President of the University, Dr. Hany Helal, and the University’s Executive Director, Mr. Thierry Verdel.
This was followed by the screening of a documentary film detailing the establishment and development of Senghor University. Later, a representative of the University’s alumni, comprising individuals who have held prominent positions both within their home countries and at international organizations, delivered a speech, followed by an address from a representative of the Senghor University Student Union.
Secretary General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, Ms. Mushikiwabo, delivered a speech, which was then followed by a poetry recital by a student from Madagascar.
Both President El-Sisi and President Macron delivered speeches at the conclusion of the ceremony. Later, the two Presidents greeted several Senghor University students on campus and engaged in conversation with them.
