President El-Sisi Follows-up on National Projects in ICT Sector

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat.
The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting followed-up on national projects in the ICT sector to attract investments.
President El-Sisi gave the following directives:
- Establishing companies through digital notification through a platform dedicated for this purpose, so as to eliminate all obstacles facing start-ups and entrepreneurs.
-Allowing the opening of virtual companies without being bound by having a physical headquarters, with the aim of saving expenses and providing facilitations for these companies.
-Easing requirements to establish one-person companies.
-Expanding the establishment of free investment technological zones and expanding tax exemptions for start-ups.
- Activating the whitelists to import electronic components for specialized companies.

As for the ministry’s projects to develop the human capital, the President gave directives to expand the Digital Egypt Initiative grant, which targets top graduates of specialized universities, in addition to the immediate implementation of the Digital Egypt Cubs Initiative, which seeks to train outstanding school students in ICT disciplines.
Dr. Talaat presented developments of the establishment of the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital, as well as the Electronics Design Center, which will host companies specialized in this field. He also briefed the President on the activities of the first phase of Digital Egypt Creativity Center. The President gave directives to complete the remaining stages in various governorates.
The spokesman added that the minister of ICT presented the implementation status of a number of projects underway in the ICT sector, within the framework of enhancing digital transformation and strengthening the IT infrastructure, including the Real Estate National ID System as well as the development of the state property governance project to rationalize its management.
The meeting also touched on the government's efforts to complete the relocation to the New Administrative Capital. The minister of ICT explained that the government completed the digitization of all paper files in all ministries and government agencies, which amounted to about 150 million documents.
