President El-Sisi Follows-up on Future of Egypt Project

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Mohammed Abbas Helmy , Advisor to the President for Urban Planning, General Amir Sayyed Ahmed, and Director of the “Future of Egypt” project, Pilot Bahaa El-Ghannam.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting followed-up on progress pertinent to the “Future of Egypt” project for agricultural production. This is within the scope of the New Delta mega project for the reclamation of 2.2 million acres.

The President was briefed on updates pertinent to different aspects of the project. This included the paths of water allocated from irrigation water, the project’s desalination plant, the agricultural mechanization and industrialization system, in addition to future plans for the development of the project, which is carried out in integration and coordination with the various concerned authorities in the country.

The President gave directives to expand the activity of the “Future of Egypt” project to be implemented within a comprehensive and integrated framework. The aim is to achieve the optimal use of state assets and the maximum possible use of the available resources, especially agricultural land and water. The project will thus serve as an engine for agricultural development in the state by adopting the concept of giant agricultural entities that have the ability to make a qualitative leap in the modern agricultural sector and achieve food security. This is in addition to relying on the latest global technology in irrigation and agriculture.

The President also gave directives for the project to focus on planting the necessary strategic crops to reduce the import gap. This is in addition to benefiting from the project by including various production activities that are related to agriculture to achieve an added value for the project’s productivity.  This is in addition to establishing an integrated agricultural manufacturing complex to achieve self-sufficiency in production requirements, as well as the system of laboratories, silos and coolers required for this giant project.
