President El-Sisi Follows-up on Progress of Great Transfiguration Project

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction Major General Mahmoud Nassar, Assistant to the Minister of Housing Dr. Moustafa Mounir and Consultant of the Great Transfiguration Project Dr. Maher Stino.

The President emphasized placing attention to all the operational details of the project, in light of the status of the sacred spot of Egyptian land that witnessed the transfiguration of God, and thus presenting it to humanity and people around the world in a way that befits it, in appreciation of its unique spiritual value that stems from embracing the three monotheistic religions.

The President directed that the project be integrated with efforts to develop the city of Saint Catherine and placing it in the position that it deserves. This is in addition to making the best use of its tourism potential, archaeological, environmental, religious and medical, as well as improving all buildings and facilities in it.

President El-Sisi also directed providing all services to visitors of this unique site in the world, while preserving its environmental and visual aspects, in addition to taking into account sustainable development considerations through the study to rely on clean and renewable energy, in addition to paying attention to agriculture, green spaces and urban coordination.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting reviewed all aspects planned to be developed within the framework of the Great Transfiguration Project, including the establishment of a new visitor center, an eco-lodge, an integrated mountain hotel, and a new administrative complex. This also includes developing the Bedouin area, housing units and pedestrian lanes; raising the efficiency of infrastructure, facilities and flood prevention work; and establishing a “Peace Square” to hold various celebrations, activities and performances.
