President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inspected today Egypt’s Future Project for agricultural production to reclaim 500,000 feddans along Al-Dabaa Axis in the northwest direction of Egypt.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that Egypt’s Future Project, which extends over an area of 500 thousand feddans, is part of the state's strategy to maximize the potential productive opportunities in the field of land reclamation and agricultural production; thence, it would be added to the series of giant national development projects that the state has been implementing in all fields all over the Republic.
The project aims to provide high-quality agricultural products at reasonable prices to citizens, to bridge the gap in the local market between production and import, and to provide, therefore, foreign currency for the benefit of the state's national economy. As a result, thousands of direct and hundreds of thousands of indirect job opportunities would be provided for all categories of citizens given the diverse activities and various investment opportunities provided by the project, with the participation of major specialized agricultural companies from the private sector.
The project is located along Al-Dabaa Axis, one of the new paved roads that were enlisted in the agenda of the national road network. The road’s site was chosen for its several geographical advantages, given its proximity to export ports, airports, industrial areas, and a number of main roads and axes, which facilitates the transfer and access of agricultural products from the project lands to all parts of the Republic. A tangible impact has therefore been created during the past year for providing agricultural products to citizens from the project's production lines during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The infrastructure and administration of the project include a fully-fledged, integrated system for mechanizing agriculture and irrigation, equipped with the latest devices and techniques to complete various agricultural operations with both high quality and speed, thousands of center-pivot irrigators, 9 power stations with a capacity of 250 megawatts and a 200-km long internal power grid, as well as a 500-km long main and subsidiary road network.
The Spokesman stated that, at the end of the inspection tour, the President met with some of the heads of the specialized agricultural companies involved in the project and a number of administration officials, with the participation of Commander of the Air Force Lt. Gen. Mohamed Abbas. The President was updated on the details and developments of the current and future stages of the project.
His Excellency directed that coordination and cooperation should be strengthened between the various competent authorities with a view to implementing Egypt’s Future Project in order to develop the agricultural production sector and the relevant food and agricultural industries and for the project to become an added value to the system of national projects in enhancing the field of agriculture and food production, achieving self-sufficiency, and providing job opportunities in different specializations in the project, a major economic breakthrough that would achieve economic growth and development for Egypt for the benefit of present and future generations. The President also emphasized the importance of applying the highest standards of occupational safety and health in the work environment for ensuring the safety of workers and employees.
