President El-Sisi Follows-up on Cooperation between Ministry of Transport and DB

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Transport Kamel El-wazir, in the presence of CEO at DB E.C.O. Group Niko Warbanoff, CEO of Elsewedy Electric Ahmed Elsewedy and Chairperson of the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) Sherif Hassan. 

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting reviewed cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and Deutsche Bahn (DB) to operate and manage the express electric train system.

The minister of transport reviewed the ministry's efforts to crystallize the contract between the National Authority for Tunnels and DB to manage and operate the high-speed electric train network in Egypt with its three lines, covering 2000 km, in partnership with the private sector represented by Elsewedy Electric. 

Mr. Warbanoff expressed his honor to meet the President and looked forward to cooperating with the Ministry of Transport to manage and operate the express electric train system implemented in Egypt with its three lines. He explained that the German company will also train Egyptian engineers and technicians and lauded the scale of developmental accomplishments made in the past years under the leadership of President El-Sisi.

The President affirmed Egypt's appreciation for the German experience in the field of management and operations systems. The President gave directives to immediately start contracting with the German company and to focus on the training aspect by transferring the German work culture that is characterized by accuracy, discipline and quality production, with the aim of formulating and refining the personality of the Egyptian technical cadres.

The Spokesperson explained that DB is one to the top companies in the field of railway management and operation companies in Europe and the world. The company has more than 500 subsidiary companies in the fields of railways, freight transport and infrastructure management related to electric trains.
